West Bromwich Albion midfielder Okay Yoksulu has praised his side's mentality following their 1-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers at the weekend, taking to Twitter to celebrate the three points.

Although the Baggies did claim a win over Blackpool in midweek, a result that gave them a platform to build on with Yokuslu scoring the winner, they were still the underdogs coming into this clash following Michael Beale's side's strong start to the season.

They were unable to make their favourites tag and home advantage count though as a Kyle Bartley goal proved to be the difference between the two sides on Saturday afternoon, lifting Albion to 22nd.

Although there are still in the relegation zone at this point, the Baggies seem to be on the up under Carlos Corberan, losing against Sheffield United but winning the next two games with the ex-Huddersfield Town manager making a reasonably decent start to life at The Hawthorns.

No one will be more pleased with their recent victories than Yoksulu, who will be desperate to get back to the Premier League with Albion as quickly as possible after shining at the top level during the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.

Hailing his side after their win in the English capital at the weekend, he posted: "Strong mentality from the boys and an important win away from home."

The Verdict:

The Baggies showed real character to grind out that victory, especially with the club in a vulnerable position at the moment and QPR making such a good start to the season.

Although the hosts were the favourites going into the tie, all of the pressure was on the visitors because of their league position and that gave Beale's men the perfect opportunity to run riot at Loftus Road.

But Corberan's men did extremely well and a special mention has to go to Bartley who has been the subject of intense criticism this season - but has responded extremely well with his goal proving to be crucial.

And in the end, that goal could be seen as the turning point for the Baggies as they look to finish in or around the top six, even after such a poor start to their campaign under former boss Steve Bruce.

These two recent wins should be seen as the start of a brighter period - and they will need to back up these results by getting more points on the board if they are to be taken seriously by those at the top end of the division.
