Ipswich Town have secured the signing of former West Bromwich Albion winger Kyle Edwards on a free transfer, with the winger putting pen to paper on a three-year deal this afternoon.
After being released from The Hawthorns in the summer, there was considerable speculation over his next destination, with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic reported to have made the first move as they entered contract negotiations with the 23-year-old.
But shortly after this report, he was spotted training with Championship side Reading and even appeared in several friendlies for the Royals last month, with a winger at the top of the transfer agenda at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Quiz: Can you remember the score from Ipswich Town’s last 15 opening day matches?
However, the Berkshire side were unable to offer the wide man a contract, potentially due to their current transfer embargo, and he moved on to AFC Bournemouth at the end of last month where he initially impressed manager Scott Parker.
However, it’s third-tier side Ipswich Town who have swooped in and secured his services until 2024, making Edwards their 13th signing of the summer window as he follows fellow winger Sone Aluko through the door at Portman Road.
Edwards, who predominantly plays on the left side of midfield but can also operate in the middle and on the opposite wing, made just five Premier League appearances last season for the Baggies and will be hoping to make a fresh start in Suffolk.
After this afternoon’s announcement then, how do Ipswich Town fans feel about their latest arrival? Happy with his experience in the top two tiers? Concerned at his lack of game time in the last 12 months?
We take a look at some of the latest Twitter reaction.

I mean I’m enjoying all these signings but how on earth is Paul Cook going to keep all these attackers happy?!?
Edwards joins Burns, Pigott, Norwood, Fraser, Barry, Dobra, Bonne, Chaplin and Aluko! 🤷🏼♂️🤯 #itfc https://t.co/o0U9uTlWKS

This is all getting a bit ridiculous now 🙂
Edwards, Chaplin, Fraser, Barry, Aluko and Burns (and presumably still Jacobs), proving the ammo for Piggott, Bonne or Norwood.
Clearly, we’ll be looking for the same level of defensive quality, it’s just taking a bit longer.
