‘Oh no’, ‘Lump on Salford’ – Plenty of Leeds United fans react to news surrounding tonight’s cup clash

Leeds United will be hoping to avoid any upsets tonight, as they prepare to face League Two side Salford City in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

The Whites have started their season off in impressive style, picking up four points from their opening two league games against Bristol City and Nottingham Forest.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side could have taken all three points against the Reds at the weekend, but squandered plenty of chances in front of goal and ultimately paid the price as Lewis Grabban levelled for the visitors late on.

Bielsa is expected to make a host of changes to the side that drew 1-1 at Elland Road on Saturday, with the likes of Eddie Nketiah, Jack Clarke and Mateusz Bogusz all likely to be given their first outings of the season tonight.

They will be hoping that they can advance into the second round of the competition without any slip-ups, with Salford looking to cause an upset by knocking out one of the big boys.

Leeds fans are not too happy as kick-off draws nearer though, with the news that experienced Premier League referee Keith Stroud is set to oversee tonight’s contest.

The 50-year-old refereed Leeds’ game against Brentford last season, a game in which they lost 2-0 and saw their promotion hopes dwindle, after having a huge penalty appeal waved away in the first half as Julian Jeanvier brought down Patrick Bamford.

Here, we take a look at Leeds fans’ reactions to the appointment of Stroud for tonight’s game…
