Nottingham Forest supporters have been debating whether the club should look to re-sign Ben Osborn on loan during the January transfer window, were they to be given the chance.
Osborn was sold to newly promoted Sheffield United during the summer transfer window, following an impressive campaign with Nottingham Forest last season, making 39 appearances in which he registered a goal and five assists – and the Blades were keen to add the 25-year-old to their squad as they look to retain their Premier League status this term.
The 25-year-old, though, has found minutes hard to come by so far since joining Sheffield United, with their manager Chris Wilder having a largely settled first eleven, which has seen Osborn make just two Premier League appearances so far this term, although he has featured twice in the Carabao Cup as well.
Nottingham Forest, then, could perhaps have an opportunity to convince Sheffield United to loan him back to them in January, if they wanted to do that, which perhaps would not be the worst idea given that Osborn would offer some extra cover in a number of positions, with the ability to play out wide, as a wing-back and even in midfield.
Osborn will have been somewhat frustrated that so far he has not managed to establish himself in Sheffield United’s regular starting XI, but the 25-year-old will probably be wanting to remain at the club and try and convince Wilder that he has the quality needed to start in the Premier League.
Sabri Lamouchi’s side are well stocked in the positions that Osborn would be battling to start in, and therefore a move for the 25-year-old would not be the most pressing issue for the Reds in January, with Nottingham Forest really needing to focus on bringing in another striker to support Lewis Grabban.
Here, though, we take a look at what Nottingham Forest fans have been saying about the prospect of re-signing Osborn on loan, on social media…
Don’t think he’s start but he’s still a class player
