The Forest academy product impressed while out on loan last season – scoring 13 times and adding 14 assists as he helped Lincoln City reach the League One play-off final.
Now back at the City Ground, Johnson – who is comfortable across the forward line and in attacking midfield – will likely be hoping to be a big part of Chris Hughton’s plans this season.
However, it is understood there has been varying degrees of interest from other clubs, including Brentford, Barnsley, Leeds, and Leicester.
According to Paul Taylor from The Athletic, Forest have already rejected offers for Johnson though it is said they “were at a low level”.
Taylor indicated that the East Midlands club are likely to give serious thought to selling one of their key assets should the right offer come along.
Previous reports have indicated that it would take £10 million to prize the 20-year-old away in the current window.
He signed a new long-term deal back in September in 2019, which it is believed will keep him at the City Ground until the end of the 2022/23 season.

It seems there has already been concrete interest in Johnson and offers that Forest have rejected.
Those “low level” bids appear to be nowhere near the club’s valuation of the 20-year-old and fans will no doubt be pleased to see that their club have quickly rejected them.
After a brilliant season with Lincoln, you feel Johnson is likely the player that the City Ground faithful are most excited to see in 2021/22.
He could be just the sort of player to help alleviate some of the attacking issues Forest struggled with last season.
That said, there’s still a fair way to go in the transfer window so you wouldn’t rule out more bids. It’s not over yet.
