Football League World's Millwall fan pundit Sam Scott says the club should offer experienced midfielder Shaun Williams another contract after it emerged that discussions over the deal were yet to commence.

News At Den reported from his pre-match press conference with the 33-year-old vowing to keep playing his best in the hope it swings his manager's mind.

But Scott believes the decision is a simple one for Gary Rowett.

"Shaun Williams deserves a new contract for his calmness and his ball playing ability from deep," the regular punter told Football League World.

"He probably has the best passing range out of people currently at the club.

"He also brings experience due to him being one of the oldest and having international experience so I would offer him another year."

He may be well into his 30s now, but Williams has remained an integral member of the Londoner's side this season, playing in 11 of their 15 games so far, all of which have been from the start.

During his time with the club he has made 245 appearances, scoring 19 goals and assisting 25 more, after signing from MK Dons in the January window of 2014.

But with Gary Rowett now at the helm, it is likely that any new deals will be put on ice for a while as he assesses what he has at his disposal.

This weekend sees the Lions welcome local rivals Charlton Athletic to The Den and there is no doubt that Williams will be looking to make his mark on the encounter.
