Oduroh starts: The early predicted Derby County XI to face Oxford on Saturday

Derby County are set to enter a new era on Saturday afternoon, when they begin their League One season by hosting Oxford United at Pride Park.

Having emerged from administration earlier in the summer, the Rams now have a new look squad at their disposal, following a busy summer of recruitment.

Meanwhile, Liam Rosenior is now the man in interim charge of the club, following the departure of manager Wayne Rooney.

Rosenior is a strong candidate to take over the role full time, and a good start to the season will only boost his cause.

With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the starting lineup that we think Rosenior could name for Derby’s clash with Oxford, right here.

We start in goal with one of those new signings brought in by Derby in the form of Joe Wildsmith, who will be looking to establish himself as a first choice at League One level, after struggling to do so with Sheffield Wednesday.

At right-back, with Nathan Byrne reportedly set to leave the club, 19-year-old Kwaku Oduroh, who joined earlier this summer after his release from Manchester, could be set to slot in on the right-hand side of defence.

On the other side of the pitch, with Craig Forsyth having now extended his contract at Pride Park, the veteran full-back should start in the left full-back roles for the Rams.

That experience, along with that of Curtis Davies, who has already signed his new deal with the club, and another new signing in James Chester in the centre of defence could certainly be important in marshalling the back four.

In midfield, Jason Knight is one of those still at Derby from last season, which is a major boost given his influence in the centre of the park, where Korey Smith and Conor Hourihane are two more additions who should surely feature, given the quality they have shown playing at a higher level than this.

Further forward, the front line is made up entirely of new additions. Tom Barkhuizen and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing can provide plenty of attacking spark down the wings, while with Rosenior suggesting that he will not risk David McGoldrick as he recovers from injury, it could be James Collins who leads the line at centre forward.
