Leading bookmaker, Sky Bet, are offering odds of 11/10 for Andre Gray to leave Burnley and step down into the Sky Bet Championship to link up with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Reports over the weekend suggested that Wolves were willing to pay £20m for Gray’s service this summer, which has led to odds falling from 16/1 to 11/10 on the striker turning his back on Burnley and heading to Molineux.
Gray has just 12-months remaining on his contract at Burnley, with Wolves ready to take advantage of the standoff regarding his future and launch an eye-watering bid.
The 26-year-old left Wolves earlier in his career, having come through the academy at Molineux.
Since then the striker has made his way through the lower leagues, ending up at Burnley, who he achieved promotion with during the 2015/16 campaign.
That season, Gray scored 25 goals across all competitions, including 23 for Burnley following his move from Brentford.
During his debut season in the Premier League, Gray scored ten goals from 32 appearances, helping Sean Dyche’s side survive their first season back in the top-flight.
Gray is currently 2/1 to remain with Burnley this summer, with Wolves the favourites ahead of West Ham United and Everton to sign him.
Wolves have already spent big once this summer, breaking their club-record fee to sign Ruben Neves for £15m.
Signing Gray would be a massive coup for Wolves, and it would probably see Nuno Espirito Santo’s side become the favourites for promotion.
However, if Burnley agree to let Gray leave this summer, the likelihood is that he will have offers from the Premier League, after impressing during his first 12-months in the top-flight.
Wolves’ fans will be encouraged by the links to a Premier League striker, with Nuno’s side in desperate need of striking options.
