Sheffield Wednesday's miserable campaign continued this weekend as they were smashed 4-0 at home by an in-form Norwich City side.

The Owls now face a tough old week as they prepare for what could be a massive Sheffield derby on Friday, with manager Jos Luhukay more than likely fearing for his job heading into Monday morning.

A run of four straight losses has yielded quite the reaction from Owls fans in the main, with many now calling for his head and for the club to act quickly before they face a potential hammering at the hands of their nearest rivals on Friday - based on current form.

Today has seen the club linked with a move for former Wolves and Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy, with respected journalist Alan Nixon stating that the Owls board know McCarthy would be keen on taking the role on.

With that in mind, our writers here at FLW decided to have their say on if McCarthy would be a good appointment or not.

Here's their verdict...

Mick McCarthy? It sounds ridiculous and there's not a Wednesday fan out there who would be happy with the appointment. Oddly, it might just work.
He's good at working with a budget and once he picks his favourite players he can get the best out of them. Look at Waghorn, great for Ipswich last season but, in the main, average for Derby.
Jos Luhukay started so well, but the Owls look in real danger again now.

He'd be a good appointment.
A lot has changed at Wednesday over the past 18 months and McCarthy would be able to work on a budget and get the best out of the current group.
It might not excite fans but he is capable of getting the Owls pushing for the top six, which Luhukay may not be able to do.

I'm torn on this one. On one hand I think he would be a solid appointment, on the other, I feel he won't offer anything for Wednesday in the long term.
He does bring plenty of experience though, and he would easily guide the club away from any sort of relegation battle.
As a Sheffield United fan myself though, I'd much rather see Luhukay left firmly in charge for the season!! :)
