Middlesbrough have confirmed the signing of Oxford United man Marvin Johnson on a three-year deal in an announcement on the club’s official website.
The 26-year-old, who has been given the number 21 shirt at the Riverside, only joined Oxford United last year from Scottish club Motherwell but his impressive season during the 2016/17 campaign caught the eye of Garry Monk.
Johnson becomes Middlesbrough’s eleventh signing of what has been a very busy summer transfer window for the club as they look to regain their spot in the Premier League after suffering relegation last season.
The new addition will be competing for places with most of the squad at Boro given the player’s versatility.
However, he is predominantly a left-back so will likely find himself mainly competing with Fabio and George Friend for a place in the starting line-up.
But what do Middlesbrough’s fans think? FLW writer Adam Goacher has taken to Twitter to gauge the fan reaction to the latest arrival at the Riverside…
Wonder how long it'll take him to throw his toys out of the pram to get another move ???? gutted though

Odd signing. We want promotion and sign a league one player. Why did we not go for Jota?

Why bid £4.5mill for Jota and then not go back with another offer? ???? come out and say if it's because he didn't want to move north
