Leeds United defender Ben White has commented on their loss to Sheffield Wednesday and singled out Atdhe Nuhiu following his display.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side fell to their fifth defeat of the season as Sheffield Wednesday scored two late goals to take all three points at Elland Road.

Leeds dominated early proceedings on Saturday afternoon with Jack Harrison failing to convert from a set-piece and Patrick Bamford having a goal unfairly ruled out for offside, despite Mateusz Klich appearing to be onside in the build-up. The game looked to be fizzling out towards a draw with Leeds not offering much in the second half before Jacob Murphy fired the Owls into the lead in the 87th-minute.

Kosovan striker Atdhe Nuhiu sealed the win for the travellers when he converted Adam Reach’s pinpoint cross deep into added time to see Garry Monk’s side come away will all three points.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds’ on-loan centre-back Ben White was in a confident mood when reflecting on the result, claiming the home side deserved more from the game. When asked about the result, he stated: “Yes, especially in the first half. I think we should have scored a couple of goals and then the game goes differently.

“But we didn’t and they did in the second half.

“I think we played well in the first half. I think we deserved to get something from the game on our first-half display.

“Obviously we did well against Arsenal and we have played like that before against a Championship side but it’s not as big because it’s not against a big side. We will just keep going.”

White also singled out substitute Atdhe Nuhiu in his post-match comments, where he was not best pleased with the impact that he had off the bench and how he approached the clash. He added: “He’s a big lump, isn’t he?

“It’s difficult to play against but it’s part of what they were going to do.

“They were obviously going to bring him on if they were nil nil and we should have been ready for that.”

With White’s comments sure to provoke a reaction from both a Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday persuasion, we take a look at how fans reacted to these comments...
