Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo insists he is proud of the club even if he was disappointed that his side were held to a goalless draw against Barnsley yesterday.

It was an uncharacteristic slow display from the league leaders in the first half, however Wolves began to control the game after the break and missed several clear chances to win the game.

But, it wasn't to be and the Black Country side saw their league cut to ten points at the top.

Yet, speaking to the Express & Star, Santo felt proud as he watched almost 5,000 away fans cheer on his side.

"It's fantastic. We have to be proud of ourselves knowing the fans are here behind the team, so far away on a cold day. The boys felt it. I think the last 10 minutes the fans pushed us."

Despite that, he couldn't hide his frustration after his side failed to break down the lowly Tykes.

"Football will give you things as long as you work hard. Growing is that - being disappointed at not getting three points, disappointment of not celebrating with our fans the way we want to."

The Verdict

Yesterday was a minor blip for Wolves in a game that many would've expected them to win, however it's nothing to worry about.

Even though they were below par, Santo's men had plenty of chances to win it and were still solid at the back.

The fans will enjoy Santo's positivity and appreciate how he always recognises their support.
