It has been a whirlwind 12 months for Morgan Gibbs-White who made his debut for Wolverhampton Wanderers and recently played a key role for England as they won the U17 World Cup.

The talented youngster broke onto the scene as a 16-year old when he came on as a substitute to help Paul Lambert's Wolves side beat Stoke in the FA Cup and has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool.

Several more appearances followed and even though an injury delayed his progress, he fought his way back to fitness to play for England at the World Cup in India. He was influential too, scoring in the final as the U17s secured a memorable 5-2 win over Spain.

Now, he's back with Wolves and whilst boss Nuno Espirito Santo praised his contribution to the national team, he warned him the hard work is only just beginning when speaking to the Express & Star.

It's too soon to say what Morgan Gibbs-White is going to 'be'. I told him personally he has to come back to reality and the reality we are talking of is a young player with a bright future in front of him that requires a lot.”

The Verdict

Wolves fans will love the message that Santo is sending out to the youngster, which is basically telling him he has a lot more to achieve in the game.

Whilst the World Cup win was memorable, Gibbs-White can't afford to stand still. He clearly has the talent to kick-on and maybe play for the senior England team one day, but his attitude can't change.

Fortunately, with Santo it appears he won't let that happen. Now, it's up to the 17-year old to continue his excellent rise and get a place back in the Wolves squad if possible.
