Wolverhampton Wanderers are enjoying a fantastic season in the Sky Bet Championship, with Nuno Santo’s side lying four points clear at the summit of the table.

The Portuguese boss was appointed in the summer by the club’s Chinese owners, who saw the potential in the former Porto manager to bring the good times back to Molineux.

Santo has so far delivered, and Wolves look set to finally return to the Premier League following a long absence, which even saw them drop into the third tier of English football.

Santo’s summer signings have been nothing short of sensational, with almost every new addition to the squad becoming a clear first team regular.

The likes of Leo Bonatini and Diogo Jota have proven sensational, with Willy Boly and Barry Douglas proving remarkable additions to the back-line.

Santo could look to add to his squad in January, but insisted that quality over quantity will be his mantra when the window opens.

“We are very clear, we know what we have to do,” he told The Express and Star.

“To come to the squad of Wolves in this moment he has to be something that gives us an increase in quality and different characteristics we don’t have.

“We’re very happy, (maybe) nothing can change, who knows.”

The Verdict

Wolves perhaps need one or two more signings to ensure they complete the job this season, but Santo will not be held to ransom but clubs aware of Wolves’ new-found wealth.

The squad at Molineux is already exceptional, and literally all Wolves need are an additional striker and perhaps a central midfielder.

If Santo can source players that he deems good enough for his side, then the Portuguese will make his move.

If not, I have full belief that the former Porto boss will refuse to make any signings this winter.
