Nuno Santo isn't a man to rest on his laurels, fresh from guiding his side to a Premier League return, he now fixing his sights on another target; a three-figure points haul.

A win against Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux this weekend will take them to 101 points and far from taking a breather, Santo wants them to break through that barrier.

“It’s very special. Now I want to achieve more, I want to have more points. We want to win every game and get better," he told Express and Star.  "We’ll try this week and next week, then we’re going to rest. I think they could do better! The chances we created (at Bolton) deserved a better finish – I’ll push on that this week!”

Three points for a win was introduced in 1981 and since then, only five teams have reached the 100-point mark in the second tier.

The first side to do it were Sunderland in 1999, achieving 105 points.  In 2001, Fulham just crept over the line with 101 points. Reading amassed a whopping 106 points in 2006 with Newcastle (102) and Leicester  (102) also breaking the century in 2010 and 2014 respectively.

Wolves are currently on 98 points, but could finish on 104 with wins against the Owls and away at Sunderland on the final day of the season.

The Verdict

Although they won't be beating Reading's fine 2006 total, Wolves could become the third best second-tier side ever under the three points for a win system. You could see them winning their last two games with ease, they're playing wonderful football and face tow sides with little to play for but pride.

They'll want to end as explosively as they can, signing off from the Championship with the sort of performances that have earned them their rightful promotion.
