With new Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo making his first signing in charge at the Molineux, in Rio Ave’s Roderick Miranda, Wolves fans should expect a few more signings, as the Wolves manager is set to bring massive changes to the West Midlands club.
One area Wolves fans will be hoping the former Porto boss is attempting to improve is their strikeforce, as the Wanderers failed to find a consistent number nine last season, with the likes of Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, Andi Weimann, and Nouha Dicko all failing to impress last campaign.
A realistic target for Nuno to consider is C.D. Aves’ Alexandre Guedes, who is valued at £383k on transfermarkt.
An unknown name for most English managers, Guedes is one of Portugal’s most promising young strikers, which Nuno will have definitely had on his radar during his time at Porto.
The 23-year-old striker began his career at Sporting CP, but never managed to hit first-team football, which lead to his move to LigaPro side C.D. Aves, where he has transformed his career around.
Scoring 13 goals for the Portuguese side this year, Guedes was Aves’ leading man all campaign, and helped his side finish second in the table, leading to their promotion to Portugal’s top division.
The centre-forward would surely bring a strong striking presence back to the Wolves squad, with his powerful and clinical nature in front of goal, Guedes would fit straight into the style of football played in England, and would certainly exceed expectations.
Additionally, having previously played with Wolves’ star man Helder Costa for Portugal’s under-19 squad, their chemistry could a key part of Wolves’ next year, as if those two can build a partnership upfront together, goals will come on the regular for the whole squad.
