It's probably fair to say that Nuno Da Costa's Nottingham Forest career hasn't quite got off to the best start.

Joining on a permanent deal from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg back in the January transfer window, the attacker has yet to score in 12 league appearances for the club, starting on just five occasions.

With the 29-year-old somewhat struggling for game time, or an impact, at the City Ground, it was perhaps no surprise to see him leave the club on loan late in the summer transfer, sealing a temporary move to Belgian top-flight side Royal Excel Mouscron.

Since making the move to Belgium at the start of October, it has been something of a stop start beginning to Da Costa's career with his new club.

Having played the full 90 minutes of Mouscron's 2-0 defeat to Eupen on the 18th October, Da Costa did not then feature for the club again until Saturday, when he scored his first goal for the club, albeit in a 4-1 defeat to title-chasing Genk.

Indeed, it has been a difficult season all-round for Mouscron, who lie bottom of the Belgian top-flight, having failed to win any of their ten league games so far this season.

That of course, is something that may yet have an impact on Da Costa's longer term future.

While Mouscron do have the option to make his move permanent in the summer, you do wonder whether they will have the financial capability to do just that if they are relegated this season.

It could also be suggested that if Da Costa does not impress in Belgium, Forest may not feel the need to bring him back into their squad next summer given the size of the playing pool they already possess, which may potentially mean he could be in line for another loan or permanent sale, if Mouscron elect not to take up their option on the 29-year-old.

As a result, it seems there is still much to be decided over the future of Da Costa, and it does appear to be possible, that question over his long-term future, could be hanging over the winger for some time to come yet.
