Bristol City winger Jonny Smith is attracting interest from several clubs lower down the Football League after an impressive campaign last season, according to HITC.

The 20-year old was on-loan at Fylde in the National League for the previous season and was very impressive, weighing in with 10 goals and nine assists in 48 games.

However, that hasn't convinced Lee Johnson to give the youngster a chance at Ashton Gate next season with HITC reporting that they are ready to loan him out.

Despite that, Johnson is a big fan of the player but wants him to play regular football next season and thinks another year in the lower leagues could really benefit his career.

And, the same report states that League One Wimbledon are interested in the player along with League Two trio Oldham, Cambridge and Bury.

Obviously the Robins will want the player to get guaranteed football before deciding where to send him for the new season.

Then, Bristol City would then look to integrate Smith into their first-team in 12 months time should he suitably impress.

The Verdict

Smith is a very talented youngster, as he showed with Fylde last season, and he is ready to step up to a higher level.

At his age, it's all about playing regularly so he needs to find the right club that can help his development.

Long-term, he needs to carry on progressing and improving and he can't be far away from having a chance at Ashton Gate.
