Several League One sides are interested in taking Aston Villa youngster Jake Doyle-Hayes on loan for the second half of the season.
The 19-year-old is highly-rated at Villa Park but has found game time hard to come by this season, with Dean Smith boasting several experienced options in the middle of the park.
With John McGinn, Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason and Glenn Whelan, among others, all ahead of the teenager in the pecking order, it appears he will have to look elsewhere for regular football.
And, HITC Sport are reporting that there is serious interest from a host of League One sides who would be keen on bringing the Ireland youngster to the club on loan.
Doyle-Hayes recently made the bench for the 5-5 draw against Nottingham Forest and also got a run out in the League Cup win against Yeovil.
Yet, he has predominantly featured for the U23 side this season and Smith may think the chance to play competitively elsewhere will help the youngsters development.
The report also states that Villa will consider their options before giving the go-ahead for the midfielder to move.
This seems like it would be the best move for Doyle-Hayes who is not going to get an opportunity at Villa this season if we’re realistic.
Therefore, playing in League One, a very good and competitive level, could bring his game on significantly.
Now it’s down to Smith and the coaches at Villa to find the right club for the player as they look to see how he can cope in a different environment.
