Middlesbrough failed to record two successive home wins in the matter of days, after being held to a 1-1 draw with Millwall at the Riverside on Saturday afternoon.

Jonathan Woodgate's side finally managed to pick up their first three points of the campaign with a 1-0 home win over Wigan Athletic in midweek - Britt Assombalonga's goal the difference between the two sides.

As perhaps expected, Boro dominated the ball in front of their home fans against the Lions, who were looking to bounce back after a 4-0 thrashing against Fulham on Wednesday night.

But after squandering plenty of big chances and having only two shots on target throughout, Woodgate's men finally broke the deadlock through Paddy McNair after 70 minutes.

Boro were unable to hold on, though - substitute Tom Bradshaw finding the back of the net almost immediately after coming on from off the bench, and that goal was enough for Neil Harris' side to grab a point.

A frustrating afternoon for Woodgate's side, who were unable to make their large spells of possession count with lacklustre finishing in front of goal.
