Middlesbrough may have splashed the cash under former boss Garry Monk to to ensure a return to the Premier League this season, but after a run of inconsistent form, the former Swansea City manager was given the boot.
Replaced by Tony Pulis, the Welshman did not take to some of Monk’s big money summer signings, with the likes of Martin Braithwaite and Cyrus Christie shipped out in the closing hours of the transfer window in a huge squad clear out.
Braithwaite in particular came as a shock, with the Dane switching the north east for French side Bordeaux on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 26-year-old bagged five goals in seventeen starts at Championship level, but Pulis made the decision to allow the former Toulouse forward to return to France to see out the season in Ligue 1.
Boro fans took to Twitter to have their say on the departure, after Braithwaite posted a Tweet declaring his excitement at linking up with the French side…
Good luck Martin hope u be back at boro next season scoring goals again

You actually did it… Signing with the rivals of the team you were captain off… Now that's pretty lame. Good luck anyway, especially with Denmark. That's where our way separates though. Goodbye and thank you.
