A host of Leeds United’s first-team players featured in the Whites’ 6-0 win over Watford under-23s in the Professional Development League on Monday night.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side returned to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table with a win over Barnsley at the weekend – goals from Eddie Nketiah and Mateusz Klich securing all three points for Leeds at Oakwell.
The former started for the Whites’ under-23 side on Monday night, though, as he looks to keep trying to get into Bielsa’s starting line-up ahead of Patrick Bamford.
There was also places in the under-23 side for the likes of Tyler Roberts and Luke Ayling, with the latter stepping up his return from injury after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
In the end, Leeds’ experience and quality proved too much for the Hornets, with goals from Nketiah, Roberts, Ayling, Robbie Gotts and Pascal Struijk securing a big win for the Whites.
This was something that Watford seemingly weren’t happy about, and after Ayling scored Leeds’ sixth goal of the night, they took to their Twitter page to issue a dig at Leeds’ team selection.
Luke Ayling, who has played more than 100 times for the first team, converts at the far post with his left foot.

Next time we play you can you try and get a shot on target unfortunately you completely wasted our GK time he didn't have to use his hands maybe if we play you again we should try playing without a GK to even up the game
