Notts County look set to beat Aberdeen for the loan signature of Wolves winger Zeli Ismail, according to Sky Sports.
The winger had been expected to sign for Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen last week, but Notts County appear to have made a successful late bid.
The news will lift the spirits for Notts County fans who have suffered an agonising summer of player departures. Wingers Jack Grealish, Callum McGregor and Jamal Campbell-Ryce have departed Meadow Lane without being replaced with like-for-like players.
It got even worse for the Magpies last weekend when they lost 3-1 in a friendly to local rivals Mansfield Town and then learned that star striker Jimmy Spencer will be out for most of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
Zeli Ismail is a product of the Wolves academy and has notched just nine league appearances for the Molineux side. He has had to content himself with loan spells, firstly with MK Dons in 2012/13 and last season with Burton Albion.
It was at the Pirelli Stadium where the tricky winger caught the eye, playing a key role as the Brewers made it to the League Two play-off final.
