When you look at Nottingham Forest's current squad, there are plenty of young players currently at the club with the potential to go on and make a big impact at The City Ground.

The likes of Alex Mighten and Loic Mbe Soh, who are both yet to turn 20 years of age, are among those who have shown plenty of promise in and around the Forest first-team this season.

That is something that those associated with the club will no doubt hope they are able to build on in the years to come, with the potential those individuals have to become key assets for the club.

However, it is worth noting that they are not the first young players to have made a significant impact at Forest at such an early stage of their careers.

Here, we've taken a look at the ten youngest players to have scored for Nottingham Forest throughout the years, according to Transfermarkt.

We start this list with German midfielder Eugen Bopp, who joined Forest from Bayern Munich's academy in the year 2000.

Bopp would claim tenth place on this current list on the 13th April 2002, when he scored the opening goal in Forest's 2-2 draw at home to Crewe Alexandra in the Championship, at the age of 18 years, seven months and eight days.

In total, Bopp would go on to score 11 goals in 89 appearances in all competitions for Forest, before leaving the club in 2006 to join Rotherham United, and then switching, perhaps slightly ironically, to Crewe a year later, before ending up down the non-league pyramid with the likes of Basford United towards the end of his career.

Having graduated from Forest's academy, Jenas became what is now the club's ninth youngest ever goalscorer on the 18th August 2001, when he netted in the 87th minute to make it 1-1 in a league game against Barnsley, at the age of 18 years and exactly six months.

Sadly for Jenas, Isaiah Rankin would then net a 90th minute winner for the Tykes, somewhat stealing the midfielder's thunder.

Even so, Jenas would go on to make quite a name for himself in the Premier League with the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, also earning 21 England caps, and is now a regular feature in the punditry world since retiring from playing.

The son of Nottingham Forest legend Des Walker, Tyler Walker earned himself a place in Forest folklore when he netted the opening goal in their 2-2 draw with Brentford in April 2015, firing home just past the hour mark.

That goal was enough to make Walker Forest's eighth youngest ever scorer at the age of 18 years, five months and 20 days.

The striker would go on to seven goals in 45 appearances in total for Forest, but after several spells away from the club on loan, Walker left The City Ground on a permanent basis during the last summer transfer window, joining Forest's Championship rivals Coventry City.

We have to go somewhat further back in time for the next entry on this list, in the form of Colin Walsh.

Having been given his chance at Forest by Brian Clough, Walsh earned seventh place on this current list in December 1980, when he put the club 2-0 up against Sunderland at the age of 18 years, four months and 28 days.

Forest eventually won that game 3-1, while Walsh would remain with Forest until 1986, making well over 100 league appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals in those games, before joining Charlton Athletic, who he would go on to play for for the next ten years.

Next up on this list is a player can undoubtedly be considered something of a Nottingham Forest icon, in the form of midfielder Lewis McGugan.

Having graduated through the youth ranks at Forest, McGugan made his senior debut for the club in October 2006, and would earn sixth place on this list later that season, when, at the age of 18 years, four months and six days, he scored Forest's second goal in a 5-1 thrashing of Huddersfield Town in March 2007.

After that, McGugan would go on to be a Forest regular for several years, making 229 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 44 goals before leaving to join Watford in the summer of 2013.

Another player on this list who ought to be something of a legend around the City Ground, is Andy Reid.

Having joined Forest as a teenager in 1998, Reid enjoyed a near perfect senior debut for the club on the 29th November 2000, when at the age of 18 years and four months, the the midfielder scored in a league 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

After leaving Forest in 2005, Reid played for the likes of Tottenham, Charlton, Sunderland and Blackpool before returning to the City Ground in 2011, where he would continue to play retiring from playing in 2016, having made almost 300 appearances across his two spells for Forest, who he now works for as head coach of the club's Under 23s.

Having already become the youngest ever player to represent the club when he appeared as a 16-year-old in October 2001, Westcarr would go on to earn himself a place among the club's youngest ever scorers a year-and-a-half later.

That came in May 2003, when at the age of 18 years, three months and five days, Westcarr scored the second of Forest's goals in a 2-2 draw away at Rotherham United, enough to earn him fourth place on this current list.

Ultimately, that would be the only goal that Westcarr would score in 26 appearances he made for Forest in total, with the winger going on to spend much of his career further down the Football League in League One or League Two, or in the National League system.

After making the step up from Forest's youth ranks, Starbuck wasted no time in making an impact for the club at senior level, netting on his league debut for the club.

That goal came in a 3-2 defeat to Newcastle United in December 1986 when Starbuck was at the age of 18 years and 19 days, which is enough to earn him third place on this list.

The striker would also score against Liverpool in his second league appearance, but was then unable to find the goal in the league again for Forest, before leaving the club for Huddersfield in 1991, later going on to represent the likes of Sheffield United, Oldham and Plymouth, while also spending time in the Dutch top-flight with RKC Waalwijk.

After several years in Forest's academy setup, Appiah made his senior debut for the club in October 2018, in a League Cup clash with Burton Albion.

That was an outing Appiah would mark in some style, scoring after coming off the bench at the age of 17 years, nine months and 25 days, which is enough to earn him second place on this list, although Burton did win the game 3-2.

Ultimately, that would prove to be the only goal that Appiah would score in eight appearances for Forest before leaving to join Spanish side Almeria in the summer of 2019, with the forward having been loaned out to their second-tier rivals Lugo earlier this season.

There aren't going to be many players whose first senior goal will be as memorable as Ben Brereton's.

Coming off the bench for Forest in a Championship clash with Aston Villa in February 2017, the striker striker was on hand to fire home a stoppage time winner that secured a 2-1 victory for Forest and, at the age of 17 years, nine months and 17 days, earned him top spot in this list as the club's youngest scorer.

Brereton would score a total of nine goals in 57 appearances for Forest, before joining Blackburn for a reported £7million, where after a couple of frustrating seasons, the striker is starting to really show flashes of the potential he possess during the current campaign.
