Nottingham Forest have made their first summer signing and you can expect plenty more to follow Michael Dawson through the door at The City Ground.

Aitor Karanka was busy in the January transfer window and once more you can expect the Spaniard to be involved in a lot of transfer activity.

Many players are expected to leave and many more to arrive at Nottingham Forest before the end of the summer transfer window.

This is a busy close season for Forest as Karanka goes about improving the squad he inherited from Mark Warburton.

Reinforcements are required all over the pitch and Karanka is expected to target goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers this summer.

The Reds are hoping to mount a promotion challenge next season after showing signs of improvement under Karanka and with this new-look spine, they have every chance of a play-off push at least.

Pantilimon was solid between the sticks after joining the Reds on loan in January.

With Jordan Smith struggling in goal, Karanka will call upon the Romanian international to solve his goalkeeper crisis - if he can snap him up permanently.

Forest have completed the signing of Dawson from Hull City on a free transfer.

Although he is 34, the former Spurs and England defender would provide the experience, stability and leadership that Forest have been lacking at the back.

Colback starred on loan at Forest during the latter half of the season and Karanka should try to get him back.

The Newcastle midfielder needs to be in an environment where he is playing regularly and he would improve a lot under Karanka at Forest.

Forest have been linked with Benfica striker Goncalves, who would be an upgrade on their current options.

Apostolos Vellios, Ben Brereton, Jason Cummings and Daryl Murphy have all struggled in front of goal so the 21-year-old forward could provide the goals they need for a promotion challenge.
