Nottingham Forest up-and-comers Brennan Johnson, Jordan Gabriel, and Tyrese Fornah will all get a chance to impress Chris Hughton in pre-season after their loan moves last term, according to The Athletic

All three were regular fixtures for League One clubs last season, with right-back Gabriel helping Blackpool secure promotion to the Championship via the play-off final at Wembley.

He beat Johnson, his Forest teammate, in the final but that should not take away from what was a remarkable season at Lincoln City for the 20-year-old attacker, who scored 13 times and added 14 assists.

Fornah featured 44 times in midfield as he helped Plymouth Argyle confirm their League One status for another season, having been promoted in 2019/20.

It seems they may not be leaving the City Ground next term, however, as The Athletic has detailed Forest's plans for the loanees.

On the back of their successful 2020/21 loan spells, it is understood that Johnson, Gabriel, and Fornah will all get a chance to impress the Reds boss in pre-season.

Forest published their retained list earlier this week and confirmed that 12 players would be departing, indicating that first team spots are up for grabs ahead of next season.

The Verdict

It seems the trio of loanees that impressed in League One last term will get a chance to impress at Forest next term, which will no doubt be well received by fans of the East Midlands club.

Johnson's exploits have drummed up a lot of excitement among the City Ground faithful ahead of next term but both Gabriel and Fornah had impressive seasons too, so it would not be a surprise to see all three part of Hughton's squad next term.

The Forest boss put his faith in another academy graduate, Alex Mighten, last season and the 2020/21 loanees will likely be keen to prove they can be just as useful.
