It's safe to say that Matty Cash has made great strides in his progress up the football ladder, with the 22-year-old now playing for promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest in the Championship.

The makeshift full-back has established himself as a regular in the Reds starting XI under the management of Sabri Lamouchi, and the City Ground faithful will be hoping that he can continue to be a key member of the Forest squad as they challenge for a long-awaited return to the top-flight.

Cash has made 39 appearances, and has been on hand to chip in with three goals and four assists at the other end of the pitch as well, which make him a valuable player for the Reds this term.

Cash started his senior career with Nottingham Forest, but did also enjoy a loan spell with Dagenham and Redbridge whilst they were still in the Football League back in the 2015/16 season.

The 22-year-old made a positive impact with Daggers, but was unable to stop them from being relegated into the National League. But Cash netted a stunning goal against promotion-chasing Plymouth Argyle towards the end of his loan spell.

The goal rounded off a 3-2 win for Dagenham and Redbridge, as they put a severe dent into Plymouth's promotion hopes at the time.

Cash took to Twitter to look back at the goal, and labelled the moment as a 'good memory', which will delight the club's supporters during the break from competitive action.

Cash and his Nottingham Forest team-mates are due to return to action on the 2nd May, when they take on relegation-threatened Stoke City in what could potentially be a tough test against the struggling Potters.

The Verdict:

He's come a long away since this goal!

I previously had my doubts about where Cash would fit into the Nottingham Forest team, as they simply have better options in attacking areas of the pitch, but since switching to his full-back role, he's been brilliant.

He's likely to be one of the first names on Sabri Lamouchi's team-sheet at the moment, and I think that'll remain the case for the foreseeable future.

Cash is a threat at both ends of the pitch, and will play a key role as Forest target promotion to the Premier League this season.
