Notts County have confirmed that they have come to an agreement with Nottingham Forest to lease training facilities from the Reds for the majority of the current campaign.

It's an pleasing moment for the National League side who were previously training at Nottingham Trent University during pre-season.

This will give them the opportunity to use facilities that are Championship quality, in order to help them compete for their status back in the Football League.

The Reds have done their neighbours a huge favour, and shows the true community feel around Nottingham.

Speaking to nottscountyfc.co.uk, Notts County's chairman Christoffer Reedtz said: “Firstly, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Nottingham Trent University. They were a huge help to the club in its time of need and we appreciate how welcoming they have been to us.

“When Alex and I arrived at the club one of our biggest priorities was to find a suitable long-term facility that Neal and his players could call home, and we’re delighted Forest have agreed to help us.

“We are hugely grateful to their chairman, Nicholas Randall QC, who very kindly invited us to The City Ground on Tuesday to watch Forest’s Carabao Cup victory over Derby County.

“We feel that a healthy relationship between ourselves and Forest can be mutually beneficial and we are encouraged by the progress we are making in this area.

“We are very much looking forward to using Forest’s excellent facilities and working together with them more in the future.”

Nottingham Forest are next in action on Saturday, when they take on Preston North End at the City Ground, where they'll be hoping to build on their strong start to this year's league campaign.

The Verdict:

Nottingham Forest have done their neighbours a huge favour in the scheme of things. There will be no reason for Notts County supporters to moan about fitness problems with the facilities that they'll have to use.

It's good to see the new owners building bridges after what happened last season, and they'll hopefully be able to help the Reds out in the future with something.

Who knows, this could be start of several loan players potentially helping out Notts County which would benefit both the player and the National League side.
