Nottingham Forest reportedly remain in pursuit of Blackpool winger Josh Bowler as Steve Cooper looks to make the final changes to his squad before the end of the summer window.

The Reds have already signed 12 players this summer as they prepare for life in the Premier League after winning promotion via the Championship play-offs in 2021/22.

Cooper and co. have not shied away from raiding the second tier for talent, making a double swoop for Huddersfield Town duo Lewis O'Brien and Harry Toffolo, and it seems Blackpool are the latest club under threat.

With the Championship campaign now underway and Forest's first season back in the Premier League set to begin this weekend, journalist Alan Nixon has clarified that the Reds remain in pursuit of Bowler.

With Joe Lolley believed to be set to join A-League side Sydney FC (The Athletic), it seems the City Ground outfit may need to add some attacking depth.

The 23-year-old is in the final 12 months of his contract after Blackpool triggered their one-year option.

After a 2021/22 season that saw him score eight goals and provide three assists, Bowler served a reminder of his talents with an impressive display against Reading in the Seasiders' Championship opener.

The Verdict

Even with 12 players already added to Cooper's squad, it seems Forest's summer business is not done just yet.

They've been linked with Bowler in previous windows as well and this does seem a good time to get their man given his contract is up next summer and he should be available for cheaper than usual.

With Lolley departing, it makes sense for the Reds to draft in another attacking option for the season ahead.

Arsenal loanee Charlie Patino's recent arrival at Bloomfield Road should cushion the blow of Bowler's potential departure for Blackpool.
