Aitor Karanka's time at Nottingham Forest hasn't seen the desired upturn in results.

Forest's recent draw with Reading means they only have one win in seven league games during his tenure.

The entertaining 4-2 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup certainly boosted his reputation, but that was followed by a 2-1 loss to Hull City in the next round.

Interestingly, Karanka's sole league win came against their toughest opponents: Wolves.

Sacking him after such a limited amount of time in charge would be foolish.

However, the signs are worrying because clubs usually have a bit of a bounce in form once a new manager is brought in.

The defensive solidity that was a key part of his Middlesbrough team is missing at Forest. Although the boring style of football and issues in front of goal aren't.

Nine goals conceded in seven league games with only three goals scored is a bad position to be in.

Recent draws suggests that an upturn in fortune could be around the corner, but Burton and Reading are both struggling to avoid relegation so Forest really should be beating them.

Although a red card for Eric Lichaj in the 28th minute certainly didn't help against the Brewers.

The decision to sack Mark Warburton was harsh considering they were 14th in the table and they were entertaining to watch.

Hindsight is obviously a great gift to have, but Warburton created an exciting team with a youthful core.

Kieran Dowell, Ben Osborn, and Ben Brereton were all thriving in his fluid system which allowed them the freedom to interchange.

The only downside with Warburton was the sheer amount of goals they conceded: 42 in 25 games.

However, Forest fans would probably accept that as a consequence of his style especially with what has come to replace it.

The decision to sack Warburton may be a decision the board come to regret.

If Forest's poor run of form continues until the end of the season, the board will have a hard decision to make in regards to Karanka.
