Nottingham Forest have been one of English football's biggest clubs in the last century, often filling the City Ground with huge crowds.

The last decade or so hasn’t been quite as good for the Reds, due to bad ownership and poor performances on the pitch.

Prior to that, Forest regularly attracted huge crowds to the banks of the Trent, to watch a great brand of football.

Despite the poor decade, Forest seem to be on their way back on the up, filling the City Ground regularly this season.

Here, we look at their top attendances of the last few decades…

Forest v Man United, February 1999

Forest got over 30,000 for a huge clash in February 1999, when eventual treble winners Manchester United came to the City Ground.

The crowd was full of expectation and hoped the Reds could pull big upset, but it wasn't to be.

Ferguson's men won by a huge score of 8-1 on the day, in front of 30,025 - Forest's biggest crowd in the last two decades.

Forest v Derby, December 2010

29,490 watched Forest in one of the most memorable matches in this rivalry in recent history, as the Reds dismantled Derby by a score of 5-2.

Robert Earnshaw scored a double, as did Marcus Tudgay, which added to Luke Chambers’ early opener in this Christmas thriller.

Forest v Notts County, January 1992

When you think of the two Nottingham clubs now, it is hard to think they once faced off in the First Division.

In January 1992, the two clubs met at the City Ground, with 30,168 in attendance.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, and it was ultimately the final time the two met in the top flight of English football - that doesn't look like changing any time soon, with Notts County now in the National League.
