Nottingham Forest are at the early stages of life under Martin O’Neill, with the 66-year-old still getting his feet back under the table at the City Ground following his return.

The Reds, after a summer of busy transfer activity, are underperforming in the Championship and are short of their owner’s expectations.

Ultimately, that has cost Aitor Karanka his job, with O’Neill appointed with the task of coming in and putting things back on track in terms of a top-six finish.

To do so you’d imagine the new manager will want backing in the next two weeks of the transfer window, but he might also have to offload from his very big squad.

There are players firmly on the fringe in Nottingham who will be pushing for an exit in the coming weeks.

Here at FLW, we take a look at TWO the Reds will surely be waving goodbye to shortly…

Liam Bridcutt

The experienced midfielder is way down the pecking order at the City Ground and whilst a new manager offers hope of another chance, it seems unlikely.

Midfield is an area where Forest have some quality options, who just bring so much more than Bridcutt.

This month is the time for him to depart.

Goncalves was a player that Forest’s supporters were excited to see this season, but he hasn’t impressed at all.

So far, the winger has made just four Championship appearances and failed to trouble the scorers.

He’s only on loan, but Forest will surely be looking for a way to send him back to Benfica.
