Nottingham Forest weighing up move for ex-Championship manager

Nottingham Forest of the Sky Bet Championship are interested in Italian manager Gianfranco Zola to replace Philippe Montainer, according to the print edition of the Sun on Sunday (23/10/16).

The club currently sit 19th in the table after their 2-1 defeat at the City Ground to visitors Cardiff City on Friday, with just two wins from the last ten matches.

Forest have been linked with Zola for the second time in recent history. Owner Fawaz Al Hasawi was reported to be interested in the 50 year-old when Dougie Freeman was sacked last year.

Gianfranco Zola has been out of work since being sacked as manager at Qatar side Al-Arabi earlier this year but he is no stranger to English football.

The former Chelsea forward has also been in charge at the helm for West Ham United and Watford, most recently the latter.

Since the owner took over at Nottingham Forest, the club has had eight managers in total.

Despite Hasawi looking to sell the club in the foreseeable future, but the Kuwaiti businessman is still looking to appoint a new manager.

Nottingham Forest supporters, what would you think if Gianfranco Zola was appointed boss at the City Ground? Could he have the same impact for you as Neil Warnock has had at Cardiff City? Let us know in the comments below!
