Nottingham Forest could reignite their interest in Antonio Raillo, report Spanish outlet El Mundo.

The club saw an approach for him in January rejected by Real Majorca but the circumstances have since changed.

Real Majorca were striving towards promotion a few months ago, and achieved that feat in part because they held onto Raillo. Now they could be willing to listen to offers for the centre-back and therefore Forest's chances of signing him have increased.

Sabri Lamouchi commented recently that he would like some additional faces, despite having already brought in five of Forest's six new signings this summer, which means a move could be lined-up for the 27-year-old.

Raillo featured in 35 league games last season and was very important to the promotion campaign. Forest could find it equally as difficult to sign him this summer as the player is about to embark on his first campaign in the top-flight, which may be a more enticing prospect than joining Lamouchi's project at Forest.

He also has two years remaining on his contract and therefore his club will be in a very good negotiating position when Forest make an approach.

The Verdict

Raillo would be a great signing for Forest, and would likely be an improvement on their current set of defenders.

They have six central defenders on the books but Michael Hefele has been transfer listed and Yohan Benalouane has been linked with a move to Olympiacos, so there could be money to spend and a position to fill.

Raillo has experienced promotion too and Forest need to build a squad of winners like him if they are going to improve and start challenging the top end of the division.
