Nottingham Forest could reignite their interest in Benfica winger Jota in the coming months, with the player eager to play in England.

It had been reported back in January that the Portuguese youth international was a target for Sabri Lamouchi, however a deal didn't materialise.

Yet, with Jota's game time for the Lisbon giants restricted, he has made just 11 appearances in the league which includes one start, he could look to leave in the next window.

And, according to media outlet Record, Forest are showing an interest in the 21-year-old and he would be willing to move to the club, even in the Championship. They state that whilst Olympiacos are monitoring Jota as well, the wide man is hoping to play in England instead.

If a deal did go through it would be the latest deal between the Reds and Benfica, with current players Yuri Ribeiro and Joao Carvalho arriving at the City Ground from the Portuguese capital.

Bringing in a winger is sure to be a priority for Lamouchi after winter recruit Adama Diakhaby has failed to make a positive impact since joining on loan from Huddersfield.

The verdict

This would be a potentially exciting addition for Forest as Jota is extremely highly-rated and the fact he is on the fringes at Benfica shows the talent the player has.

Clearly, he needs to move to get first-team football though, which is why a switch to the East Midlands could suit all parties.

Whether Forest win promotion or not, this is a deal they should look to pursue and it could be a coup for the club if they bring Jota in.
