Nottingham Forest are exploring all sorts of options during the current transfer window as the Trentside club look to strengthen their existing squad ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Chris Hughton's men have been linked with all sorts of names, however there has been little in the way of activity at the City Ground so far.

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath was signed from Belgian side Club Brugge on a free transfer, whilst Cafu saw his loan move from Olympiacos made permanent earlier in the summer.

Meanwhile speculation still persists over the future of Joe Worrall, with various Premier League clubs having been linked with a move for the centre back in recent months.

Here, we round up all of the latest transfer news that has been swirling around the City Ground in recent days.

Former Sunderland striker Kevin Phillips has told Football Insider that he believes that Nottingham Forest right back Jordan Gabriel would be a great signing for the Black Cats this summer.

The North East outfit are currently going head to head with Blackpool over the permanent signing of the 22-year-old this summer.

Gabriel is currently under contract with Forest until the summer of 2024, however the Reds could be willing to sell the defender for the right price.

Speaking recently on the matter, Phillips had this to say:

"Trying to bring in that solid right-back would be good. I think you do definitely need cover in that position as we showed last year when we had a couple of injuries.

"A player with experience would be ideal so he could be a good signing for Sunderland if they can get it done."

Ex-Arsenal man eyed

Forest are said to be interested in signing Excelsior Rotterdam defender Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill this summer, as per a recent report by Hull Live.

Hughton and co are said to be in the market for a new left back this summer after Yuri Ribeiro's exit and Tyler Blackett's injury and are said to view the 25-year-old as a potential to candidate to fill the void.

Ormonde-Ottewill is a player that the Reds are keen on and it can be argued that the former Swindon Town man would present a much cheaper alternative to that of Derby County's Lee Buchanan.

The attacking full back has just one year remaining on his contract in Holland and could be open to a move back home to England.

Reds run rule over midfielder

Nottingham Forest are also said to have taken Aldershot Town midfielder Reece Wylie on trial, as per a recent report by Nottingham Forest News.

The 17-year-old rose through the ranks with the Shots and featured for Forest's under-23 side against Barrow yesterday afternoon at the training ground.

Wylie made his first senior outings for Aldershot at the back end of last season and is now out of contract.

A box to box midfield player by trade, the teenager was once a target for Chelsea last year, however the Blues never firmed up their interest in the young talent.
