Joao Carvalho and Diogo Goncalves are set to have medicals tomorrow as they look set to become Nottingham Forest players.

The Benfica duo have been linked with a move to the Championship side for the past few weeks now but it appears to be edging a lot closer to completion now, according to Telegraph reporter John Percy.

He revealed on his twitter account that they are both flying to the UK tonight ahead of the checks tomorrow, with Carvalho set to command a club-record fee.

The attacking midfielder is going to cost the Reds £13.2m which is a real show of ambition from the Forest board. Previously, the highest fee that had paid was £5.5m for Britt Assombalonga.

Carvalho, who is 21-years old, has only played seven times for Benfica's first-team but he is highly-rated and has 15 caps for the Portugal U21 side.

Meanwhile, Goncalves, who is a forward, will join on loan for the season and he too has made several appearances for the U21 national side.

The Verdict

What an exciting time this is for Forest fans as these are two players who have huge potential and could star in the Championship.

Wolves proved last year that signing young, foreign players can work and the pair will have ambitions of reaching the top-flight with Forest.

The deals appear to be close and Forest will have pulled off a major coup to land the pair if they get finalised in the coming days, which appears likely.
