Nottingham Forest are stepping up their interest in Lewis Grabban, holding further talks over the AFC Bournemouth striker in recent days.

According to the Nottingham Post, Grabban is still firmly on Forest’s radar, with Aitor Karanka keen to add the striker to his hand ahead of the new Sky Bet Championship season.

Grabban impressed last season in the Championship, spending time on-loan at both Sunderland and Aston Villa.

The 30-year-old striker bagged 20 goals combined, with 12 coming for struggling Sunderland and a further eight for Villa.

His eight goals at Villa Park put Steve Bruce’s side in promotion contention, but he was unable to guide Villa back to the Premier League.

Since returning to Bournemouth, Grabban has attracted plenty of interest, with Forest not the only Championship side interested in taking the forward on board.

Leeds United have been credited with an interest in the striker, with Marcelo Bielsa keen to transform his strikeforce following his arrival at Elland Road.

Like Forest, Leeds disappointed in the Championship last season, with both clubs hoping for more next season after mid-table finishes.

The Verdict

What Karanka has done in the transfer window so far has been superb, with Forest’s squad really taking shape ahead of next season.

However, Forest do need to strengthen their strikeforce with real experience this summer, something that Grabban would help to do.

The 30-year-old was superb last season, impressing in a struggling side and one that was pushing for promotion.

You’d expect more clubs than just Forest and Leeds to be chasing the striker.
