Watford are reportedly "very close" to signing Galatasaray striker and Nottingham Forest transfer target Mbaye Diagne, according to Le Quotidien.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a £6m move for the Senegalese forward, who has spent this season on loan at Club Brugge from Galatasaray.

On Friday afternoon, Diagne dropped a huge hint on his future, posting what looked to be a farewell message to Brugge fans onto his Instagram page with the Forest badge appearing on the photo.

But now, reports from Le Quotidien claim that it is in fact Watford who are "very close" to signing Diagne and seemingly snatching him from Forest's grasp.

Can you get full marks on this Forest quiz?

Diagne is a proven goalscorer, it's fair to say, after the 28-year-old scored 30 goals in the Turkish Super Lig for Gala last season.

The summer arrival of Radamel Falcao led to a temporary departure, though, and he has since scored four goals in six league games on loan in Belgium.

Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi will be looking to bolster his attacking options this summer, and provide cover for Lewis Grabban who is their leading goalscorer with 17 strikes to his name.

The Verdict

This already looks like a really confusing and rather lively transfer story.

Diagne confused everyone when he posted an image of himself and the Forest badge onto his Instagram page, and it looked like there was only going to be one destination for him this summer.

But, it now looks as if Watford could sign the Senegalese powerhouse, and a move to the Premier League could well be on his mind over anything else.
