Peterborough United owner Darragh MacAnthony has revealed the League One side are doing all they can to keep hold of Gwion Edwards who has been attracting interest from Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are one of several Championship clubs that are reportedly interested in the winger and Aitor Karanka is considering a move for the highly-rated 25-year old this summer.

And, The Posh owner MacAnthony confirmed on twitter that there is interest in their key player, although he added that they are trying to tie the former Crawley Town man down with a new deal.

Yet, his wording at the end of the tweet may offer encouragement to fans in the Championship as it suggests the player may be interested in moving on.

Ipswich and Bristol City are the other second-tier sides that have been credited with an interest in the player, who scored seven times and registered five assists from 33 games last season.

Edwards is capable of playing as a wing-back or as a natural winger on the right side of midfield.

The Verdict

The Peterborough wide man has had a very good season in League One and it won't surprise those at the club that there is interest from higher up.

Karanka is planning on a busy summer at the City Ground and has clearly identified Edwards as a target to help for next season.

Going from MacAnthony they will do all they can to keep Edwards but ultimately the player could try and force the issue if he wants a move this summer.
