Nottingham Forest starlet makes shock switch to Germany

Nottingham Forest starlet Oliver Burke has made a shock move to Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig on a 5-year contract, the club’s official club website has confirmed.

After an excellent start to the season for Nottingham Forest which saw the Scottish winger score four times in five Championship games, Burke had been attracting interest from both the Premier League and from across Europe with German powerhouse Bayern Munich reportedly interested in the 19-year-old winger.

However, rather than Bayern Munich, controversial German club Red Bull Leipzig has beaten the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to secure the Scottish starlet’s signature.

Oliver Burke has become Red Bull Leipzig’s sixth signing of the summer with the wealthy German club.

Red Bull Leipzig have caused controversy amongst traditional German football clubs as RB Leipzig was only founded in 2009 and has since gained five promotions in seven years to reach the Bundesliga for the very first time.

Burke is likely to be one of the marquee signings for the German club as the Scottish international completes his switch today.

Nottingham Forest fans, how do you feel about the news? Are you disappointed to see Oliver Burke leave so close to the end of the window? Is the transfer fee of £15 million too much to turn down? Could Burke have played a major role in a promotion push? Who would you like to see the money spent on before the end of the transfer window?
