Britt Assombalonga has agreed a new contract with Sky Bet Championship side Nottingham Forest, according to HITC.
The 23-year-old has had a lightning start to the season, scoring three goals in three games for Philippe Montanier’s side and he was linked with a move away from the City Ground this summer.
Fans were praying that the club kept hold of Assomabalonga after selling teenage star Oliver Burke to RB Leipzig late in the transfer window.
The former Watford striker joined Forest in 2014 for an undisclosed fee, believed to be an initial £5m rising to £8m, but his time at the club has been disrupted by a serious knee injury that kept him out for over a year.
Assombalonga attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer, most notably Premier League side Sunderland, but Forest fought off the advances of those teams to keep the striker at the club.
Forest fans…What do you make of the news? How important is it to get Assombalonga to sign a new contract with the club? Are you happy that the club rejected offers to keep him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
