Ben Osborn has said he'd rather Nottingham Forest played a short-passing game instead of emulate Millwall or Cardiff City.

The Reds aren't going to be going up this season but that is certainly the aim for next year as Aitor Karanka looks to really kick on.

Osborn has played a lot under him this season, too, and will look to do so in 2018/19 where he hopes the club will continue to play the way they do with it on the deck.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, he praised Cardiff and Millwall for what they've achieved this season but he'd certainly like the Reds to keep doing what they do, instead of playing more direct.

He said:

"I would prefer to play the kind of football we do [to Cardiff and Millwall,] definitely. This is a club where the fans have been brought up on playing good football."

The Verdict

Cardiff and Millwall have played to their strengths this season and it looks as though at least one of them could profit from that with a Premier League berth for next year.

Forest want to do that, for 2018/19 too, but it is clear that Osborn and co. want to keep it on the deck.

Certainly, this is something that the Reds fans will buy into.
