Nottingham Forest seem to be starting to hit their stride under new boss Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds are unbeaten since their opening weekend defeat to West Bromwich Albion and are currently 10th in the Championship, with nine points from six games.

A one-all draw with Preston North End on Saturday capped off a particularly impressive week for Lamouchi, which saw his side hand Fulham their first defeat at Craven Cottage this season and then thump rivals Derby County 3-0 in the East Midlands Derby.

With the amount of squad turnover at the City Ground this summer, having signed 12 new players, you feel that Forest may continue to get better as their squad settles.

With the squad having a rest from Championship football due to the international break, we take a look at how the players are getting on…

Samba Sow

There is no rest for summer arrival Samba Sow, who, according to his Instagram story, is in training with the Reds' squad.

The 30-year-old was one of a number of new central midfielders to arrive at the City Ground in the summer and has not yet cemented his place in the side.

The defensive midfielder has been in and out of the starting line-up and maybe looking to prove to Lamouchi over the international break that he deserves to be a more regular fixture.

The defender is currently sidelined for the Reds after having surgery on his back and appears to be enjoying some rehabilitation in Turin.

Benalouane has, however, kept true to his club and is sporting a red-themed outfit in his Instagram post, adding the caption: “always in red” and the hashtag "coyr".

Lamouchi indicated in August that the 32-year-old was set to be missing for a “few months”.

The Reds have not missed the centre-back terribly as Michael Dawson and Joe Worrall have formed a solid partnership so far this season.

Brennan Johnson

The 18-year-old is currently on international duty with the Wales under-21 squad and has posted an image of himself in training.

Johnson has impressed his new manager so far this season, with the Frenchman describing him as an “unbelievable player” following his full debut against Derby.

The Welshman has been given his first taste of senior football by Lamouchi this season, featuring in both Carabao Cup games and coming on as a substitute in their opening weekend loss to West Brom.

The midfielder may be hoping that a good display for Wales may lead to some more first-team minutes for the Reds.
