Despite his side sitting firmly inside the Sky Bet Championship promotion spots at present, Sabri Lamouchi will undoubtedly be eager to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window as he looks to guide Nottingham Forest to promotion.

The Reds currently occupy second spot in the league standings, and sit level on points with West Bromwich Albion at the top of the table having not lost a game since their defeat to the Baggies on the opening day of the season.

Lamouchi added plenty of new faces to his squad in the summer, with 12 new players arriving at the City Ground, but you would still expect him to bolster his squad with even more faces in the winter - especially up top.

Over the course of the summer, Forest bid farewell to plenty of attacking players, with Daryl Murphy, Jason Cummings, Hillal Soudani and Apostolos Vellios all departing Trentside and moving onto pastures new.

This seemed like a good move at the time, but having being left frustrated after failing to bring in another centre-forward, Forest are now left short of options up top, with Rafa Mir and Lewis Grabban their only striking options at the moment.

Forest also bid farewell - albeit on a temporary basis - to young forward Tyler Walker, who joined Lincoln City on a season-long loan deal after an impressive time on loan with Mansfield Town last term.

After scoring 26 goals for the Stags last season, spearheading David Flitcroft's side to the League Two play-off semi-finals, plenty of Forest fans urged Lamouchi to use Walker as a back-up option this season.

But that wasn't to be, and now, after scoring plenty of goals for the Imps this term, Forest fans have now been discussing a potential January recall for Walker on social media.

Walker has thrived on loan at Sincil Bank thus far, scoring seven goals in 15 games for the League One side after what has been a turbulent start to the season for the club, following the departure of Danny Cowley to Huddersfield Town.

If Walker was to be recalled by Forest, though, then it could have a detrimental impact on his development as a player and his confidence in front of goal.

At the moment, Walker is a key player for Lincoln and is playing week in, week out, and that won't change between now and the end of the campaign.

Of course, Walker will want nothing more than to play regularly for Forest, in the future, but right now, he is earning regular game-time elsewhere, and is getting better and better as weeks go by in what is a very competitive division.

If he was to be recalled by Forest, then all he'd be is a back-up option to Lewis Grabban. He isn't good enough to get into Lamouchi's side ahead of the 31-year-old, who has scored five goals in the Championship so far this season.

At this stage of his career, Walker needs regular game-time and needs to be getting a taste of men's football, and that's something Forest cannot provide him with at the moment - Lincoln, however, can.
