Nottingham Forest have been extremely active during the current transfer window and there appears to be renewed optimism around the City Ground after the club's new recruits assisted in ensuring a pretty decent start to the campaign.

The deadline for transfers is tomorrow at 11pm and it looks likely that the Reds will continue their attempts to sign more players to add to the seven first-team recruits that have already arrived in the East Midlands.

Boss Mark Warburton has worked shrewdly during the summer and has seemingly refused to become embroiled in dealings with clubs and players who are demanding excessive fees and wages in an inflated market.

Forest succumbed to their first home defeat of the 2017/18 season on Saturday as an exceptional Leeds United side left the City Ground with three points following a comfortable 2-0 win.

The defeat highlighted the club's need to strengthen at the heart of the defensive unit and if Warburton is looking towards one or two more players then a central defender would certainly be a wise addition.

One man who the Reds should look to try and sign before tomorrow's deadline is Bristol City man mountain Aden Flint who has been the subject of vast interest throughout the summer months.

Flint was heavily linked with both Birmingham City and Norwich City in the summer but with both of those clubs recently signing other central defensive targets, it could now leave Flint in relative limbo as the window prepares to slam shut.

Bristol City do seem quite content to let Flint leave Ashton Gate this summer although they are likely to demand a fairly hefty fee from any club looking to secure his services.

The 28-year-old is virtually ever-present during the last three years and Forest would do well to secure themselves a player with such a level of reliability when it comes to being available for selection.

It might seem a long shot that Forest could ignite an interest in the Derbyshire-born performer this close to the deadline and this might be a transfer for consideration a little further down the line.

If Forest can somehow secure Flint's signature in the next 24 hours, however, it would certainly enhance the Reds' chances of a successful season.
