Nottingham Forest probably didn't plan for being involved in a relegation battle at the start of the season, but things quickly turned sour at the City Ground as the season wore on.

It took until the last day of the season for Forest to secure their safety, beating Ipswich 3-0, which tied in with other results mean the Reds had retained their Championship status.

Philippe Montanier started the season in the hot-seat at Forest, but his position soon became precarious, and he was sacked in January as Forest continued to slide down the table.

He was replaced with Gary Brazil, who took over as caretaker boss, before Mark Warburton took the job on in March, and his appointment was just enough to keep Forest's head above water.

This summer is Warburton's first chance to put his own stamp on the team, and you would imagine there will be quite a big overhaul of players.

One player who Warburton should look to sign is Leandro Bacuna.

The Villa wide man is unlikely to see much football next year, with James Bree likely to flourish at right back and Albert Adomah starting to nail down a spot on the right wing.

Bruce will also recruit heavily this summer, meaning Bacuna is going to be pushed down the pecking order.

However, he could still offer an awful lot to Nottingham Forest.

Warburton has trialled a three-at-the-back system, which seems to have worked for Forest, and this would offer Bacuna the perfect role of right wing back.

The 25-year-old has shown for Villa, his willingness to get forward from right back, but also how quickly he can get back into his defensive shape.

Forest can also adapt and play a 4-2-3-1, in which Bacuna can either play as a right back or a right winger, so his versatility could be key for Forest over the course of a season.
