Nottingham Forest secured their Championship status with a 3-0 victory over Ipswich Town at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon and soon after the game boss Mark Warburton quickly turned his attentions towards next season.
The former Rangers manager will be keen to ensure that Forest progress next season and he will cast his eye towards the transfer market to strengthen what is already a pretty decent squad at his disposal.
The Forest manager will definitely be looking to sign players with ample Championship experience in order to give the club the very best chance of competing for a place in the higher echelons of the division during the 2017/18 campaign.
Forest’s second tier rivals Norwich City were active last week in announcing that seven members of the first-team squad would be released at the end of their contracts this summer and the Reds would be wise to look towards signing two of the unlucky Canaries players.
Goalkeeper John Ruddy and central defender Ryan Bennett would both represent quality acquisitions for the Reds and would strengthen two areas of the pitch that the Reds definitely need bolstering in.
Reds stopper Jordan Smith is undoubtedly destined for a bright future and he hasn’t disappointed anyone during a run of first-team games during the second half of the campaign. However, the chance for the 22-year-old to learn from Ruddy, a former England international, could be a massive positive for the Reds to consider.
Forest have struggled to get the same central defensive partnership on the pitch during the 2016/17 campaign and the signing of Bennett would see the Reds secure a very dependable player, who could be an inspirational part of any success that the club might have next season.
Both players would surely jump at the chance to join Forest with an instant return to Championship football likely to be a big selling point for the duo. For the club, the availability of two players who are more than capable of improving the squad, arriving on a free, is not an opportunity that should be passed up easily.
Nottingham Forest fans, would you welcome these two players to the City Ground? Let us know in the comments below!!!
