There is little to doubt that Championship club Nottingham Forest will be looking to add to their squad this summer, as boss Mark Warburton looks to stamp his own authority on the first-team squad.

It has been a quiet summer for the club in terms of incoming transfers so far although news has started to gather pace that some signings might not be too far off.

One thing that Warburton has done impressively is getting current key players to pen new deals and in securing David Vaughan and Chris Cohen for another year the club has made sure that two experienced pros will remain at the football club.

Given that both Vaughan and Cohen are getting older, however, it seems likely that Warburton will cast his net into the transfer market for one more central midfielder this summer.

One man who could represent a solid investment from Forest over the next couple of months is out of favour Brighton and Hove Albion man Oliver Norwood.

The 26-year-old found first-team football hard to come by during the second half of the 2016/17 campaign and following the Seagulls’ promotion to the Premier League he could be deemed surplus to requirements.

The Northern Ireland international is a proven performer in the second tier and his experience could help a young-looking Forest squad.

Forest manager Warburton would surely relish the chance to sign such a quality performer and he would fit in with the manager’s ethos of signing younger players with sell-on value.
