Nottingham Forest are clearly looking to try and win promotion next season and the Reds have already secured the signings of Michael Dawson, João Carvalho and Diogo Gonçalves to represent a real statement of intent.
Given that Aitor Karanka’s men finished last season in such a lowly 17th position it seems likely that more recruits will arrive at the City Ground before the big kick-off in August.
One area that Forest will be desperately keen to bolster is up front and several strikers have already been linked with the club this summer and it remains to be seen which deals will actually get over the line.
The Reds were extremely shy in front of goal last season and Karanka will be looking to sign another talisman to take the pressure away from youngster Ben Brereton who carried a large chuck of the burden last season.
Forest must ensure they get the right man to fire them towards the higher echelons of the division during 2018/19 and one man who should be on Karanka’s list is Watford man Andre Gray.
The 26-year-old featured 31 times for the Hornets last season but was largely introduced from the bench and a move to a forward-thinking Championship club with ambition could tempt Gray away from Vicarage Road.
Having only spent one season at the Premier League club he probably won’t come cheap but he would certainly enhance Forest’s chances of challenging for a place in the play-offs next season if a deal can be struck between the two clubs.
Although the lively talisman netted just five goals last season, his form at Burnley was mightily impressive and he is a striker that would be majorly in demand should he become available for transfer.
